
Michael is a founder and shareholder of Heine & Kim Fiduciary Partners LLC.
He currently sits on the boards of several private investment funds based primarily in the Cayman Islands and the US. The investment strategies of the private funds include private credit, real estate, co-investments and various equity long/short strategies.
From 2014 through 2018, Michael served as General Counsel of UBS Hedge Fund Solutions LLC (formerly, UBS Alternative and Quantitative Investments LLC). As General Counsel, he was primarily responsible for all legal matters within the UBS Hedge Fund Solutions LLC management team and new product structuring. Prior to becoming General Counsel, Michael was the Deputy General Counsel of A&Q Investment Solutions, which consisted of UBS O’Connor (hedge funds) and UBS Alternative and Quantitative Solutions LLC (funds of funds), from 2004. Prior to joining UBS Hedge Fund Solutions LLC in 2004, Michael worked as an associate in the Investment Funds team at Schulte, Roth & Zabel LLP where he focused on hedge fund structuring and formation, and before that, at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP where he worked in the complex litigation group (1999-2002). After graduating from law school in 1998, Michael clerked for the Honorable Ricardo M. Urbina, then a United States District Judge of the United States District Court of the District of Columbia. Michael has over 21 years of investment industry experience and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a JD from the George Washington Law School and he is admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
Currently, Michael resides in New York and Tokyo.
